Please someone should wake Aisha Yesufu up from whatever dream world she is in and remind her this is Nigeria we talking about here. This is not Britain, Japan or USA where their democracy is anchored on the rule of law, justice and equity.

IPOB getting involved in the dirty world of Nigerian politics, or aligning its self with any political party for the purpose of seizing political power, will lead to the end of IPOB.

Lets assume that IPOB did what Aisha Yesufu said, aligned its with APGA or any other party, managed to win every political position in the SE and parts of the SS that they want to secede from Nigeria, then what? They will still have to go to National Assembly in Abuja to move a motion for division or referendum, and you can bet that other geopolitical zones will be waiting to vote out that motion.

Nigeria is not Britain where the Scottish National Party(SNP) won a lot of political positions and used it to go to London to get Scotland referendum in 2014, Nigeria is not that advanced in thinking, or in its democracy

In the Nigerian context, once IPOB gets involved involved in Nigerian politics, it will lose its legitimacy as a separatist group because political parties in Nigeria are not supposed to be separatist groups.

This is not Britain, and IPOB cannot be SNP. The only way Aisha Yesufu's would have made sense is if Nigeria had be structured along Regional lines with a weak centre. Thats when IPOB could have become a political group, test it is popularity in its Region, and if successful, move a motion for referendum which it now take to the weak centre that will have no choice but to consider that democratic mandate.

But this current system of several weak states and a strong centre, that is simply not possible

If IPOB gets involved in the dirty world of Nigerian politics, it will be the end of IPOB.

I am really surprised that the so called freedom fighters have seen no sense in what Aisha said. Many strategic thinkers among the Igbo folks have shared the same idea, but the same people that want power are talking trash about the idea. It points at few things:

1. That IPOB have no idea of what to do with power, they are just angry guys who are fantasizing about an eldorado but know nothing about how to get there.

2. It points at the fact the IPOB guys are having fun in activism, and fear that any headway will end their new hobby.

3. Most of the IPOB guys cannot even fit into the system if power is given today, they enjoy more relevance by causing mayhem and issuing ultimatums today. For them, that is their only way to feel powerful even above people who they cannot remove their shoe lace.

4. Like APC, IPOB wants power but know nothing about managing it.

Look at the big picture in Aisha's suggestion which I have been advocating, it is easy to gain legitimacy by holding power legitimate power. By the way, what IPOB wants, or at least claim to want is freedom for the region. What if they take over Easter region politics and develop an Easter region development plan in every area and have a 10 year plan to transform the East. They will ensure that the best of the Igbo are given power and make sure those in parliament are there to continue the Igbo agenda. Imagine having 10 of Abaribe in the Senate and same in House of Rep. Imagine the kind of table they will shake.

Seriously, if IPOB has not considered that direction by now, then they are more vision-less than the current Politicians. They should remember Hook's law and try not to cross the elastic limit.

Why havent all these people aligned their movement with a political party and turned their Regions into 'Heaven'? Thats because they know it cannot be done with the way Nigeria is currently structured

Even Biafra as declared by Ojukwu, did Ojukwu have the opinion of the major Igbo leaders and people before declaring Biafra.
