It also suprises me that some members prefer to believe that Oprah couldn't have said what she has been accused of. She's human and could very well have said it. If she didn't say it then she should reply to the "accusations".

I'm quite sure Oprah has better sense than to say that but if she did then I'm really appalled that she could say such a thing. Though I don't entirely blame her, cuz we happen to top the chart by a gigantic margin. I mean I've never heard of any other African scammer, there're probably some but I haven't seen any. I saw a show on ABC called 20/20 where some investigative reporters came over here to find out exactly the state of affairs on this side of the world. I felt very ashamed of my country when they paraded some of the culprits caught in a cafe in Lagos. Usofia was shown depravingly praising the Nigerian wit for being smart enough to 'chop ur dollar' We all need an attitude check to realise that our beloved country can make it in other ways. Though I'm very sure that if we evaluate the percentage of Nigerians involved in this stuff, we would find it insignificant. But I'm sure that's a hard point to sell. I looked it up on google and you tube, I could not find a direct link to this story. Please let us try to verify our sources. She aired a show about internet e mail scams but I will try searrching for the transcript. So far I have not found the quote.

I have to skip so many posts to make this and I will just say that we dont need Oprah to tell us that Nigerians. Oprah is just guilty of a certain kind on ignorance helped by miseducation more than education. For the negative Nigerians that the international media bring the spotlight on, there are many times more who are dilligent and truthful, who are no different from other Americans or any other Nationality for that matter.

IT is for the sake of these group that I say Oprah is wrong. THis country will come out of all these. You cannot insult a generation of people because of the activity of a few. I was lucky to have read DENEX and OLAWA last contributions and can say it is close to reality.

Firstly, I don't think Oprah will say something like that without qualifying it.

Secondly, it is not true and will never be true that All Nigerians are corrupt.

Thirdly, WE do not have a 'government' that is responsible

Fourthly, this is the biggest  and where I agree with DENEX and OLAWA, the west needed to rubbish countries like Nigeria after they have rubbish South Africa with HIV/Aid and people start to believe that the only thing that can come out of Southern African states is HIV/AIDs

You see this is politics and economic warfare. If they succeedd in rubishing Nigeria, the greatest black country and we accept it, and promote it on their behalf, they will have succedded in Neo Colonialism without having to invade our country to colonise us.

There are a significant and vocal minority including people with political power and all they do (take ATIKU and Congressman Jefferson saga) for example suggest we careless about corruption. But the American's and their govt are the masterholder and majority shareholder in corruption. Their govt invaded Iraq on false pretence and spend over 200Bilion dollars and they have not achieve anything. They only went there to extraxt Iraq oil. Iraq like Kuwait will pay those $200 billion dollars with their oils for years to come.

We need a debate and engage our government. Quite frankly I am not sure of Yar Adua, the Job to re-engineer Nigeria need a very strong/agile and durable robust leader with vision and a great orator and action person to gently persaude Our country to take a clean route to the future.

POVERTY MUST BE ADRESSED AND SOCIAL SECURITY MUST BE MADE AVAILABLE IN ONE FORM OR THE OTHER and then we can isolate and reduce corruption to bare minimum.

In my conclusion all these pronouncemnt has some elements of truth but extraordinarily exagerrated for Political and economic warfare reasons.  For example if Nigera got her act together and becomes respected all over the world a lot of our dependence and purchasing from these countries will be reduced and they have their own difficulty. Look at cases in question are INDIA and PAKIstan. The Indians will overtake the US economy in about 50 Years.

GOD will redeeem us where our enemies think there is no hope. Amen

I have looked over the 17 pages of Oprah show transcript that was aired on April 13, 2007. I found that the show focusssed on various typess of scam. nigeria was mentioned, Russia was too, US too but at no point did I see this ""statement"". Oprah is not perfect but she has helped more people than a lot of other rich people can lay claim to.

If she therefore never said this, how do we justify our posts?
