Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed the rebranding in an online presentation, emphasizing the company’s increased focus on the “metaverse,” in which the digital and physical worlds will intersect.

One of the foremost frequently used products in history is Facebook. Although it is a well-known social media brand, it no longer incorporates all of our activities. In his presentation, Zuckerberg stated. I will like to establish a connection between our work and our identity and the goals we’re seeking.

In a Facebook post, Zuckerberg elaborated on his vision for the “next chapter of the internet,” in which individuals may immerse themselves in digital representations of the actual world rather than, say, wasting time on the commute to work.


“You’ll be able to teleport quickly as a hologram to be at work without having to commute, at a concert with pals, or in your parents’ living room to catch up in the future,” Zuckerberg said. “This will expand your options no matter where you reside. You’ll have more time to focus on what important to you, less time stuck in traffic, and a lower carbon impact.”

While the name change may better reflect the company’s new aims, it also comes at a time when the social media behemoth is facing unprecedented government and public scrutiny.

The announcement on Thursday did not say if Facebook would be reformed in conjunction with the name change. Starting Dec. 1, the company’s stock will be traded under a new ticker, MVRS.
