So I’m looking at investing some money in the palm kernel business.
I personally made a trip to the mill and took some pictures too, below is a summary of my findings so far:

1. A flour bag of raw kernel goes for #3,100 in very remote places.
2. Each bag will be transported for #500 to urban area or processing mil.
3. Whole process for the quantity I’m looking to purchase (about 200 bags) takes about 2-3 weeks to process, that’s the turnover period. For which I need to hire 4 labourers.
4. Every 50 bags of raw kernel produces 15 bags of processed kernel (product)
5. Current market price for each bag of product is #123 (one hundred and twenty three naira) per pound weight.

This post is part of my research into the this business venture, so I need critical insight from experienced people. Are you into this business or have you ever done it, how profitable is it, what are it’s weakness and threats, most importantly how did you overcome them?
