Lagos State once had a welfare programme (during the administrations of Bola Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola). I don't know what happened to it in recent times. That welfare programme is the best intervention that the government can give in this situation.

The government has given them a rented place, but what happens when the rent expires?

Some say that the government should give them a permanent place in one of its estates. How will they maintain that permanent home and how will they take care of themselves in future? Giving them a permanent home might sound good, but it's not the appropriate sustainable solution.

The welfare programmes that were put in place by the Tinubu and Fashola administrations were designed to help indigent people to (1) learn a skill (2) get some form of finance, etc. so that they would be financially empowered to take care of themselves. That's what's required in this situation. This family needs assistance to be able to improve their financial situation in a sustainable way. When that is done, they would be able to pay rent, maintain their residence, etc by themselves.

Mynd44:

The Lagos state government didn't cause the death of her daughter; that is on the Police (FG), The state is going over its mandate to put a human angle to this.

The daughter isn't a bread winner, neither was the death of Jumoke the reason for there situation. Whether the program is cosmetic or not, the state has done its best to help out. The FG is responsible for this.

Bitter truth

Usual Nija facade. Where is Justice for the victim? That's what matter more. The policeman that did this will go and do the same again and again.
