Alhaji Sagir Hamidu, a former candidate for governor of Zamfara State who was assassinated by gunmen on his way from Abuja to Kaduna, has been laid to rest. Alhaji Sagir Hamidu was killed when gunmen blocked the Abuja-Kaduna highway on Sunday, taking several hostages. Among those who attended the funeral were Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle and former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari.
