Nollywood actress, Ada Ameh has called out Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State after he publicly revealed that the state gives N500 to pregnant women who deliver at primary health care facilities in the state.
Naija News reports the governor made this known during Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday where he revealed the state will offer a fee of five hundred naira to every pregnant woman who delivers at the primary health care as basic insurance.

He said; “Abia State has keyed into the basic health insurance for pregnant women. If you give birth in any of our centres, you get N500.

“Delivery is free, they give you a delivery pack and N500, which is running for the vulnerable members of the society.”

Asked what the N500 could do for the women, the governor said “free delivery, are you asking a poor woman, what will she do with N500? Some people don’t have it.” “At least it will pay their way back home.”

Reacting to the development, Ade Ameh took to the comment section of her colleague, Charles Inojie to call out the governor.

A lot of Nigerians are so conscious of money that they forget other important things of life. It's true that Ikpazu has not been leaving up to expectations especially when compared with his colleagues from other states but let's look at this case from other angle. Putting aside the 500 issue, Is it not worthy of praise if indeed Abia state government under Ikpazu is offering free delivery services to pregnant women across the state, in addition to that, a delivery package to go home with? I don't think delivery bill cost less than 20,000 in any hospital in Nigeria.
For me, my concern is not the 500 but my concern is whether the free delivery is accessible to all pregnant women or it is just a political promise? This is however my own opinion

Adah Ameh has not reasoned well.

If the governor only assured on free delivery what would have happened? What's the "shameless" in it? She only looked at the N500 and not the total package. For some women it could go for over N50,000.

By the way, what contribution has Ada Ameh made in terms of care for the less privileged?

Many women remain in the hospitals after delivery, without money to pay and detained by doctors.

It shows that the public health system in Abia is good and can cope with the challenges.

People should not be sentimental about this N500, but look at the overall effect in the lives of women and families in Abia state. Now men can go to bed and sleep well with the assurance that delivery fee has been taken care of.

All of them are in court as a result of petitions written against them by Abians,btw,where were you when OUK was convicted for corruption only to be released from prison by FG? Ochendo family are still walking free because corrupt EFCC have refused to do their job well.
