Soludo: Leaders Should Excel In Private Endeavours Before Venturing In Politics (Throwback Photo)

Anambra state Governor-Elect Charles Chukwuma Soludo has emphasized the need for Nigerian leaders to be renowned in their private endeavours before taking up political leadership, IgbereTV reports.

He took to his Facebook page to recount his experience in 2004, when he was first called to take up public leadership. He shared his throwback photo and wrote;

"When in 2004 I was called up to serve in the Government of President Obasanjo together with other young and visionary turks, what preoccupied our minds was how to better the lot of our Nation. To this, we gave our all and the book makers have been fair to us in their analysis.

However, in looking at this picture this evening, I recall the events and experiences that shaped us for the task of public service, during my days in the Brookings institution. It was President Obasanjo who captured it in the words that make great meaning; and to those who wish to learn, I believe there is a thing or two of value to take way.

He said to us;

"If you want to be successful in public service or political leadership, you must have a second address".

These words continue to resonate in my head, even though I think President Obasanjo spoke from the knowledge of a valuable past - - the period when our political founding fathers were first renowned in their private endeavours, sought knowledge across the length and breadth of the world, before presenting themselves for political leadership.

Today, we have a growing crop of young people who see politics as a means of livelihood. More saddening is the growing sense of entitlement where majority now seek to get something for doing absolutely nothing to enhance the system. There is a lot to be done. But, we must start from the reorientation of our minds.

CC. Soludo"

This has been my inclination & disposition when assessing political aspirants most especially the young people.

True. Meanwhile, who knows where Obiano distinguished himself before becoming a governor?

Didn't know that Soludo has always loved black striped suits.

As a top bank executive that was lured away from abroad. Obiano is a brilliant technocrat.

Today a bag of cement is four thousand naira, even Kogi people cannot buy cement to build house, the same Dangote want fuel to be 400 naira per litre before he starts production , which one is excel in private sector without reflect on you people and your country....You contest many times and failed, you just win and begin to run your mouth.... Let wait your failure will never have part 2

As per what Soludo said here, is there anyone who was nothing before becoming a governor? I want to know the DISTINCTION that Obiano scored in his field.

You are busy defending your rich people, if it were to be Buhari that is paying 35 thousand naira to civil servant heaven would have let loose, if our Education sector is good , do you think many of you would have graduated? How? You are part of the problem. Capital R

LMAO I laugh at people like u who haven't employed people before ...oga start a business employ people then pay them 100k if u think it's easy

With the hostile business environment in Nigeria ,why credit rate , very low population ( yes percentage of population capable of buying your products ) ,high tax rate and infective graduate that would still cost millions to retrain you think the banking sector is not trying then start your own bank

This mindset is he reason u all hate igbos because they are rich u want them humble n nice , when they are not and live their life u hate

Make your own money see how easy it is

In what sense did he distinguish himself? Is there anyone who became a governor without being somebody somewhere?

In a sane society, this is the benchmark! But the Nigerian political environment, godfathers thrive and choose who is to be!

Really? But Buhari was a cattle breeder before becoming a president, and that ended in failure as a president.

Kalu was a successful businessman before becoming the governor of Abia State, yet failed as a governor.

You are 100% on point Sir!
The thing is that the people you share this scam of a country with only believes in one thing; MEDIOCRITY.

Even after so many years hard working Igbos powered this country economically and politically, they are only concerned with one thing,
"IF WE ALLOW IGBOS THEY WILL OUTRUN US SO, LET'S CHOOSE THE WORST OLD CRIMINAL MEDIOCRE ELEMENTS TO RULE US EVEN IF IT MEANS EVERYONE DIES."

People like soludo, Peter Obi, Okonjo iwela, ezekwesiri, dr maduka have proved their onions in the world Stage long before venturing into politics.
In People's republic of china, any notable citizen on world Stage or known for excellence in places like US and EUROPE is aggressively sort after by Chinese government to join the vision of a great China.

But I weep for this country due to lack of cohesion. It's evident that the cultural and religious values across the country takes priority over quality leadership. The north wants Islamization then Talibanization. The south east wants Biafra, the South south is drooling over stupid urge for derivation entitlement, south West is worshipping TINUBU from now to 2023 then forever.

Tell me, how did We get to this unthinkable height of sniffing and puffing bullshits?

My problem with Nigerian thieving politicians is that, after excelling in their private endeavor they still want to loot our common patrimony

Word!

Somebody somewhere made his son a DG of a govt agency. With no sentiment, I think some seats require years of experience & success records.

Nigerian politicians did excel in private crime enterprises before entering politics.

That is why they are so great at looting.
