Chuks Ibegbu, a former National Publicity Secretary of the `Ohanaeze Ndigbo has claimed that President Buhari is more loyal to the Niger Republic than he is to Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Post, Ibegbu described Buhari as an unpatriotic Nigerian who is nursing the agenda to retire to the neighbouring country in 2023.

According to him, Buhari's loyalty to the Niger Republic was responsible for his decision to construct a railway line from Katsina State to Maradi, the second-largest city in Niger and the administrative centre of the Maradi Region.

Buttressing his point, Ibegbu recounted how President Buhari used his power as Military Head of State to support a candidate from the Niger Republic for a position of the African Union Secretary General, ahead of a Nigerian.

The Federal Government is currently constructing a 284 kilometres standard gauge rail line enabling interconnectivity between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
