How many times in the past decade have you heard Russia invading and destroying countries compared to the US and its allies? (Pls don't mention crimea).
The issue is that after the cold war, Russia was weak. The US then (against agreement) moved nato towards Russia's boarders to contain them militarily. The last 2 countries are ukraine ang Georgia. The US staged a coup in Ukraine and installed a puppet government which was expected to kick off the russian navy from the black sea naval base Russia has had for over 200 years. Nato would have then taken over the base thereby controlling the black sea. To Russia, that was a red line.
Putin says the world must be multipolar and not unipolar. You cannot have just 1 country ie us dictating to others. His challenge of the status quo is the reason the west vilifies him.
The US has been spoilt for years as too much power in their hands unchallenged. Russia has encouraged China to challenge them too.
Putin is seen, even by ordinary American citizens as the best leader in the world. His intellect is second to non.

Russia will not annex Ukraine. Crimea is costing their GDP as the place was so poor that Russia had to literally build infrastructure there leading into billions. Ukraine is also poor and of no economic value to Russia now especially as there's now a gas pipeline straight to Germany.

Sanction you say?? Russia is independent on her own in all ramifications. They have their phone tech, Car tech, amongs all...Infact majority of the aeroplane engines that the US has were made in Russia because they specialize on that.
