Within the last half a year, people all around the world have faced approximately 10 major cyberattacks that affected the work of major corporations, businesses, governments, and social institutes.

Never think that you are an average user so the information or data of your computer is of no interest to a hacker, please is wrong thinking. The WonnaCry cyberattack affects about 230,000 computers in 150 countries, most of them ware average computer users.

Students are the most vulnerable pupils as some of them are greedy to internet users. Most students start blogging as a means of getting extra money and gaining attention to certain issues.

Follow these tips to protect your blogs as average users

1. Connect to Encrypted Wifi Only

Most public wifi is not encrypted and it’s easy to fall into the hands of man-in-the-middle attacks. To stay online safe on public wifi use the religious rule all-time when writing and studying blogs.

Switch off the” sharing” option on your computer setting, it gives you permission to share files and data to other devices but it is only safe when you are on your own secured private network.

2. Use HTTPS

Use HTTPS when visiting your website and enable SSL (secure sockets lay) while using apps to encrypt your data.

Since HTTPS is simple to exchange that allows you to reach any website and is also easy for a skilled hacker to get access to your data and your passwords.

Avoid entering personal pieces of information and sensitive information over the public wifi. Why? Because public wifi or wireless networks are not secure. Prefer to VPN or your smartphone hotspot which are more secure than the public wireless network.

3. Secure You Home Wifi Network

Hotspot or private networks (VPN, home wifi network) are safer than public wifi.

Follow these best three 3 steps to secure your home wifi networks.

Change the router admin username and choose a new password. It is necessary to change the default name and the password to secure your blog since the router is in public matters records.
Change the name of the network to make your network more liking and name the network with something that its familia to home networks.

3. Don’t Store Password In a Browser

4. Regularly Update Your Security Software

As a student, it is very difficult to get enough finances to buy expensive software. And it doesn’t me you should browse the internet without protection.
