If you want to bid for contract, they will ask you to produce at least 3 years tax returns. Are they saying this company incorporated in July 2020 used half year tax returns for 2020 to bid or they used the historical tax returns of the majority shareholder?
CSTRR:

Some people are saying they will build on existing infrastructure.

Is MTN or Airtel or glo going to lend MAFAB their existing infrastructure for installation?

MAFAB would have to build everything from scratch all across Nigeria.

We are talking billions and billions of dollars.

Billions of dollars that MTN,AiRTEL and glo spent over the years.

Shame how?

Did MTN have any structure when the very first licences were issued?

Mtn was a major telecomms provider in many developing economies economies before getting the license in Nigeria.

If a company will assume a major stake in a critical and sensitive sector such as cutting-edge 5g services, its common sense it should not even have been shortlisted in the presence of companies with extensive track record delivery similar services

Bros exact same thing IBM said about Microsoft & Bill Gates in 1978.

Microsoft as a start up did not start by taking over major licenses in critical sectors of the economy. Why will you give the future backbone of telecomms services for an economy the size of Nigeria to a company with no track record in the industry where the are several willing companies far more competent

“May.” Proven track record of operating telecom licences is the issue here. Mafab has zero experience !! Oh what a country.
And so?
If the company do not role out operations within a stipulated time, the license can be revoked or the government can embark on another round of bidding.

Glo missed out of the first round of GSM license, but it won license as a second national carrier which included GSM just 2 years later.

They have until end of Feb 2022 to pay up or the next bidder in line with will be called in.
Then they will need to build the infrastructure to o support their license, so it’s a wait and see situation for now.

Definitely. There was an elimination agenda with a terrorist tone.

Why on Earth should the 5G license be auctioned in the first place? Can't every Telecom Company in Nigeria get it? How come Airtel was bullied out of the scheme?
am starting to beleive this too.

Mafab is one of the technological subsidiaries of Althani Group, a business conglomerate chaired by Musbahu Muhammad Bashir, a business tycoon.

No reasonable person expected anything different from what just transpired. After all, this is a Kakistocratic-Oligarchy form of government of TERRORIST FULANIS, run by TERRORIST FULANIS and for TERRORIST FULANIS.

MTN have been operating in several countries before getting their license.
This Mafab has no experience with communication, has no real plan and have no business
bidding for 5G license.
The government just created another middle man to milk the telecommunication sector without
offering any value.

MTN was less than 7 years when it came to Nigeria. Same with Econet (now airtel) from Zimbabwe.

How old was globacom when it first won the license in 2001?

People cares...glo was not first registered when mtn was licensed.

Glo was registered the same time. It won the license just like mtn but it found out that the spectrum that it was given was a subject of litigation having been previously allocated to another company under Abacha.

It conveniently forfeited the $20m it deposited for the license

Stop jumping the gun. What is shameful. That an indigenous Nigerian owned company won a transparent auction bid against a foreign multinational. After we go dey shout our government are not encouraging indigenous companies. Be it whether they have experience or not, it's best to Judge and criticize them when they fail to deliver. Then we would know it's business as usual.

False.

You people just make up stories from your head.
Glo was not even available for the first round of bidding in 2001. The three companies that won the 2001 bid of $275 million was Econet, MTN and Communications Investment Limited (CIL). CIL belonged to Mike Adenuga. CIL could not meet up with the payments and it lost its license. A year later Mike Adenuga through Globacom win the license as the Second national carrier for $200million. He started operations in 2003.
You can read more here - https://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/09/adenuga-the-grand-commander-of-telcos/amp/

Which $20 million did it forfeit for the license? CIL could not pay the $20 million.
