Kalu was granted bail in the sum of N100 million, with a bond deposit in a bank and two sureties in like sum. The sureties must submit to the court evidence of tax payment from the Federal Inland Revenue Service for three consecutive years. Besides, the former Abia State governor is to depose to a sworn affidavit stating the number of countries he has citizenship, and will deposit all his international passports with the court.

He is also to provide two traditional rulers as sureties, and deposit three recent passport photographs with the court. In addition, the court ordered Kalu to report to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on a weekly basis, and refrain from travelling out of the court’s jurisdiction without permission.
