Findings have shown that there will be high cost of fish following a new policy introduced by the Ogun state government.

It was gathered that the Ogun state government has allegedly set up a task force monitoring the buying and selling of fishes in all cold room across the state.

Findings revealed that the task force were reportedly charging fish sellers or buyers N2, 000 before they can be allowed to gain access to any of the cold room in the state.

Investigation however revealed that the new policy may eventually lead to high cost in the price of fish in the state.

Many residents who spoke with newsmen described the government's new policy as "a way of improvising suffering on the people".

The residents complained that buying cartons of fish now come with paying the task force N2, 000 union fee.

A resident, Tolu Ogunsola lamented that she has been unable to buy fish at cold room for more than 10 days.

Ogunsola who claimed her family only consumed fish described the new policy as wickedness.

She said, "why will they be collecting N2, 000 before we can purchase fish. This will eventually lead to hike in the price.

"People selling fish are business owners, they are not ready to do anything without making money. So, if the task force is charging additional N2, 000, it is the consumers which are residents of the state that will bear the cost on the long run."

Another resident, Nifemi Bolajoko said there is anxiety among fish buyers and sellers in the state.

Balojoko however urged governor Dapo Abiodun to intervene into such and put a stop to the policy.
