A Catholic priest has been shot dead while returning from a church service on Christmas Eve in Ogun State.

The 38-year-old victim identified as Luke Adeleke was reportedly killed at Ogunmakin in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the victim was on his way to his Parish after celebrating Christmas Vigil Mass at an outstation church when the assailant shot him.

Comfirming the incident, the state police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the gunmen exchanged gunfire with policemen in the area and escaped with bullet wounds.
