False. Under the Nigerian constitution that guarantees freedom of movement and association, a governor has no right to ban practices that were not specifically banned by the law.

That was how Governor Fashola (a SAN for that matter) made a law imprisoning everyone in house every last Saturday of the month in the guise of sanitation law. A high court judge took a look and threw out the obnoxious law.
Fashola thought we were still under military rule.

Wait wait wait, you don't know prostitution is illegal according to the constitution

Am not against banning prostitution especially road side ones at least it will help save our future generations while reducing some unfortunate scenes on streets. But you should also set plans on keeping our mothers and daughters save cause some of these people are....... Even with all the club house and ashawo quarters everywhere we still dey hear rape even from uniform men, imagine what happens when you short ashawos done.

Which constitution? Abeg give us section and chapter.

What constitutes prostitution is very ambiguous. Do you consider Internet dating as prostitution? Whereby you source a girl online, pay her to come to your abode, then pay her her "transport" fares to go back.

What about a girl you "toast" that demands taking her out to restaurants, buying her gifts and giving her money before she gives you access to her playstore to download and upload.
Abi na "oshofree" you be?

I also don't like seeing scantily clad women littering the streets, particularly in residential areas. But what you can't do is restrict a woman's rights of free movement and association. Unless you suggest we jettison this democracy we are purporting to practice and opt for autocracy or theocracy.

The way to keep our mothers and daughters safe is by empowering and protecting them with institutions and laws. Women should be encouraged to go to school, learn a trade or start a business. Men who impregnate women must be forced to pay child care for the children. Many of those women who cheaply sell their womanhood do so to raise kids abandoned by irresponsible men.
You cannot exploit and abandon women and at the same time restrict them from seeking survival anyway they can.

Believe me if you totally ban prostitution, rape and other sexual crimes will multiply many times fold. For many men prostitutes are the only available avenue to cure "Konji" or sexual frustrations and fantasies.

Sorry, lemme rephrase that , personal prostitution is illegal according to the penal code(fancy name for Sharia court), but commercial prostitution ( operating brothels) is illegal according to the Nigerian constitution section 225 of the criminal code

Farahaideed is right. Our political leaders are bereft of sound ideas. This is like using a sledge hammer to kill a fly.
Banning night club will have a spiralling effects. Job loss, income depletion etc.
Have you heard of las Vegas? It is a hotel and gambling headquarters. Do you know how much goes into that city that is blossoming in the middle of a desert.
You don't just make a blanket statement like that

You're very stupid. Insofar as a business activity is LAWFUL, such as setting up a nightclub, no governor has a right to shut it down.

Any compensation at all for the Nigerians who spent their life savings setting up those establishments you're shutting down?

Of course not!

Backward, stupid people with no common sense.

I don't engage in mannerless online abuses with people like you. Education indeed is not literacy. If you like go and set up your family in a building housing a brothel. As for the compensation you are talking about, anyone affected so badly by the Governor's action can go to court to claim whatever damages. Finally, you need to go back to school to learn social use of language.
