The date was January 1st, 2022. The venue was Da'Bof Centre; 9, Oni Street, off Jimoh bus-stop, Akowonjo. The epoch-making ceremony was a get-together for the creme de la creme of Alimosho PDP.

While it would be monotonous to reel out the names of all dignitaries in attendance, it is pertinent to note that the roll call of participants was replete with the movers and shakers of the party in Alimosho LGA.

Notable among the personage that graced the occasion were the PDP LGA Chairman; Alhaji Isiaka Shodiya and his EXCO members, party leader and state caretaker committee member; Chief Alani Ige, Alhaji Shamsideen Akinsanya (father of Hon. Abdul-Azeez Akinsanya), all ward chairmen and a host of others too numerous to mention.

Thanks to Hon. Abdul-Azeez Akinsanya, the PDP House of Reps Candidate for Alimosho Federal constituency during the 2019 general elections and his indefatigable TEAM AZ movement, this momentous event was designed to celebrate the individual efforts of party members in the past and also to preach the message of peace, unity and cohesion in accordance to the dictates of the yuletide.

Hitherto this event, it was practically impossible to assemble all leaders and followers of the party in the L.G.A owing to the perennial issue of factionalization that had gained bedeviling notoriety for polarizing the members at all levels. Suffice to say that this initiative is unprecedented and kudos must be given to Hon. Akinsanya for thinking out of the box.

Amid the wining and dining in the cosy ambience of the choice event centre and intermittent blaring of trendy music, designated speakers were called upon to address the audience which apparently was revelling the spotlights. Not forgetting the rib-cracking jokes by the stand-up comedian.

Giving his vote of thanks, Hon. Akinsanya announced that the event will henceforth be celebrated on the same date annually. However, the cynosure of the event was the issuance of plaques to deserving members of the party who have distinguished themselves through hardwork and their immeasurable contributions to the growth of the party in Alimosho L.G.A.

Some noteworthy recipients of the awards are Alh. Isiaka Shodiya, Chief Alani Ige, Otunba Segun Adewale (Aeroland), and a post-humous honour of recognition to the demised Lagos state Chairman, Dr. Adegbola Dominic among others. With pomp and pageantry, each awardee mounted the podium to receive their plaques personally or on behalf of the recipients from Hon. Abdul-Azeez Akinsanya.

In crescendo, the most remarkable highlight of the event was when Hon. Akinsanya presented an award to his father, Alh. Shamsideen Akinsanya. Laden with emotions and feelings of nostalgia, he eulogised his father for playing a significant role in making him the man he is today.

Flanked between Hon. AZ and his wife, Baba Akinsanya received the award with gratitude. Thereafter, the floor was thrown open for all and sundry to take pictures with Hon. AZ as the event came to an intriguing end.
