Corruption has dealt us a heavy blow in this country, Nigeria is the only country that retrogresses every year, no progress since 1960. I don't know when this ugly circle will end. 157 Likes 14 Shares

No corruption is not the reason why we don't have cities like these in Nigeria... It's our mindset and the way we think... The countries that harbor this cities whose image u displayed here are corrupt if not more corrupt than Nigeria From the poor to the rich, our way of thinking is very very bad Modified So I got almost 40 mentions for this post alone and more than half of those mentions criticize me in one way or the other... Well to my own standard that just shows why I said our thinking is our problem in Nigeria and Africa at large... So many of u have decided to accept defeat and backwardness hence u believe everything good cannot happen in Nigeria... USA and other top countries u see today are still corrupt but someone somewhere stood up and said let's change things (largely due to their way of thinking) If we have right thinking people... They will know that anything good is possible in this country (you are talking of a country that is the 6 or 7th largest producers of oil in the world)... A country blessed with human and natural resources... And u tell me corruption is the reason why we are where we are today... Take Dubai for instance if they have the same thinking mentality we have today, no body will be visiting that city... Because of the way they think... You can't place corruption in front of your mindset, your mindset comes first... Lastly... The Nigerian poor man mentality is totally rotten,so poor that they accept everything being said to them, tell them Nigeria can never be like USA, Nigeria is the most corrupt country in the world they foolishly accept, hence why our politicians keep putting us where our thinking and mindset is... I could go on and on... But we accept mediocrity in this country... I rest my case here michlins: Nigerian thinks our politicians don't have capacity to build a city like this... They do, but when they do... From the poor man angle: you see them throwing dirty and all sort of rubbish on the streets, damaging it by trying to steal the equipment if possible just to frustrate the effort of the little the government is doing (dirty mindset) From the rich politicians angle (they don't see the need to improve on previous projects, make it better, hence the reason why we remain back ward (if the whites saw no need to improve on the first television made, today we won't have a smart TV) dirty mentality again It's just so painful to see how low we the citizens have placed ourselves before the politicians... Very well said 635 Likes 66 Shares |

Let's start with the citizens first. You see those civil servants in government parastatal, as they grow in level corruption also grows with them. Saw a thread of how people were given photocopies of NIN slip instead of the original. Modified Mentioning me because I said my mind won't help kick corruption out of Nigeria. The Nigerian civil service is corrupt! Some of the former directors of the so called civil services are now your present state governors and senators. One of them recently had a power tussle with men in black. Please keep the mentions coming! 179 Likes 16 Shares |

Corruption isn't the reason Nigeria is poor and underdeveloped. Our leaders don't have leadership capacity. No country is as corrupt as the United Kingdom or USA plus Switzerland in that order 17 Likes 1 Share |

michlins:You must be drunk while writing this Only evidence from serious source will show you are not. Is the US Central Bank only employing mostly politicians pikin like the Central Bank of Nigeria does? In Nigeria, a lot of Government ministry they employ without notifying the public about it Without strong leg, you no fit enter NNPC or FIRS. Without corruption, I doubt Nigeria will be as develop as the city in that your first picture sef Wetin be Nigeria budget for this year? 23 Likes 1 Share |

omoharry: Well here's my reason for saying corruption ain't the reason for our backwardness in Nigeria... We have foolishly accepted that we can't with collective effort wriggle our way out of under development, we have accepted failure, that we can't achieve what the whites are achieving hence, u see our politicians steal to go and develope an already developed country... That dirty mindset of we can't achieve this and that in Africa at large is what is killing us, fine corruption will come in with such dirty mindset, but I bet u, if us uk and other top countries think the way we think with the corruption they have, they would never achieve what they have achieved today... China today don't need to depend much on any country for survival, that does not mean they are not corrupt in one way or the other... ... Well it's well 7 Likes 2 Shares |

jmoore:have you looked at their banking systems that allow the laundering of proceeds of corruption from Africa. These guys have put in place the framework that enables and facilitate corruption. And when they see a good person who will be strong enough to eliminate the corruption and block the loopholes, they will use their press and sometimes political assassination to eliminate that person. 21 Likes 1 Share |

michlins:A thief in Nigeria transfers stolen money from a Nigerian bank to a UK bank. And you are using that to conclude that UK is more corrupt? Why didn't your Nigerian bank stop the money from leaving the account in the first place? Here is a good example of corruption. A project that should cost 1 billion naira, Nigerian politicians will inflate the price to 30 billion naira. Then use 300 million to execute a substandard project. After 3 years the project gets dilapidated and same cycle repeats again. 41 Likes 8 Shares |

jmoore:have you guys seen what is happening at Wall Street and the London stock exchange. You guys want to hear bad news about Nigeria always. The enablers of corruption are the people who are worse. If you save money for thieves or buy stolen items, you are worse than the thief. Nigeria leaders are just very stupid. Look at APC, they got into power and spent years blaming PDP instead of doing something they were voted for. That's the incapacity of Nigeria politicians. It has nothing to do with corruption. Stealing is the oldest job on earth and it's not going to stop. Having a work around is the solution to the problem. If nothing else is evidence, APC taking power and doing nothing is all the evidence that we need to know that incapacity is the problem with Nigeria. Shey like this they're collecting loans without reading the "sovereignty clause" in it. And it's not like they are investing in projects that are capable of paying off the loans. 12 Likes 1 Share |
