I have this persistent annoying issue with my RX 300, after a long park or overnight, the battery drains.

I have had more than 2 electricians work on it, although what they did was trial and error.

The alternator charges the battery fine after I have jumpstarted it with another battery.

Have you confirmed the battery is still Good??


Being able to jumpstart with another battery shows your alternator is fine..doesn’t mean your battery is fine..

After starting it with another battery , use ur car throughout the day so the battery can charge well.. then remove the positive and negative terminal over night and see if it starts in the morning....

If it doesn’t...then it’s not your car since your car isn’t connected to the batter over night...

your battery may likely want a replacement.... u might need to get ready for another 20k

There short circuit somewhere. Check the connection in the butt, also the head of the terminals might be short circuiting too

Does the battery get hot or warm? Or just get a clampmeter to check one of the terminals to know how much current is being drained out of the battery when the car is parked. Normally with the inner lights on, it shouldn't be more than some milliamps .
Compare it with that of another car that's okay

Well... u need a good a Rewire...a very good one.. it could still be your alternator...I remember I once had this problem with a DC Honda...

The Rewire said it was the alternator... he said it had something to do with one of the wires that entered the alternator .... he fixed it in less than an hr..

I went online to do more research and I was challenged by one report that says only the car owner can identify the fault at this frustrating period.
I went to my car in the night where there was no light, I monitored the inside from the outside to see if I will see any light that may be on, low and behold, I saw the driver's side power window button on, I discovered it was the number one parasite, the power window of a car parked since last night was still working.
Further research made me get a digital multimeter commonly used by the electricians which I finally used to get the actual parasite draining my battery overnight and since then, I've had my peace.
The parasitic draw finally dropped from 0.96mA to 0.01mA.

Yea,with a little knowledge of how to use the multimeter,you can find the culprit,I fixed mine too after months of running from pillar to post,am in Aba though. Mine was a fuse that I pulled out and all has been well since then.

Let the rewire trace the earth wire to see if it's intact.
Check for other sources draining the battery, light, radio tape, etc.

Bleep drain test. Your alternator cut out is bad. Mu own staryed on sunday,after washing engine,few drops of water got into it.drove it aftwr 5mins my baytery light permanent,draine my 2 batteries. Ran to a rewire,cut out was bad as well as the top part that has screws like a half circle metal. U go spend money ,like 10k or u buy toks alternator 50k

Not your battery, not your alternator. Something is definitely still consuming your battery power after you park and switch off all components. You need a very competent electrician (rewire) that has necessary tools and knows his onions, he will do a power drain test and detect what is always on when every other thing is off.

I have chAnged the alternator twice now and everyone keep saying this current alternator is good

Oga,just a little DIY, you will find the culprit to the drain,I bent over and resolved mine after throwing away money on parts and labour but they couldn't resolve it, there is a link I posted up there, study it for step to step guide on the trouble shooting.
