The group is now opened with the 2-2 draw between ivory coast and seria lone, and now Algeria losing to EQG.

It happened in similar fashion @Senegal 92 when Algeria came as defending champions but finished bottom of their group that had Cote D'Ivoire and Congo-Brazzaville.

35 matches unbeaten run came to an end, 2 short of Italy's world record, sincerely Algeria's long run in the Arab cup is really a strain on their performance here since most of the players here played at the Arab cup concluded last month.

Nevertheless, Asides Egypt, North Africans always have problems when the tournament is hosted in Sub Saharan Africa, Equatorial Guinea should enjoy their win. they deserve it, this is the kind of performance I expected from all those small teams initially, not parking luxurious bus and expecting a 0-0 scoreline, the big teams are fallible, just puncture their jugular and watch them revel in disarray just like Algeria just did.

The Man of the match for me is the referree. An african ref. Would have buckled under pressure and awarded the Algerians the dubious penalty they craved throughout the match.

Caf should consider seriously the continuous use of non african refs.

That was back in the days. Things have changed for super eagles. Back then you'll hear stuffs like if this one loose by at least 4 goals, that one draw 1-1 , we con win this one at least 2-0 we go qualify.
