Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba is the Minister of state for Education and from my findings about him, he is a very close confidant of the president and his been ally right from his ANPP days and even part of the formation of the CPC. He ran for the governorship of imo state in 2003 and 2007 on the platform of the ANPP and in 2011 on the platform of the CPC. Further findings revealed he was the secretary to the committee that drafted the constitution of the APC during its formation stage.

The APC has quality presidential materials in VP Yemi Osinbajo, David Umahi, Babatunde Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi just to mention a few. Most of these names mentioned are the most talked about because of their rumored ambition save Dave Umahi, Bola Tinubu and Orji uzor Kalu who have declared their intentions. In very rare occasions, I have seen the name of the minister of state for education listed as likely successor among other names.

But I am not ruling out the possibility of a dark horse emerging given our nature of politics in Nigeria. The personae of Emeka Nwajiuba is one of those to watch out for as a dark horse just as it was in the case of Yar’adua in 2007. But then, only time will tell and for now it appears as though Bola Tinubu is the front runner for the APC ticket.
