Our loyalty to Ekiti development must come first, strong and loud in the mind of every son and daughter of Ekiti descent. The world is watching us closely and waiting to see how we handle this month gubernatorial primary election.

We have the chance to queue for growth and development of our dear state by voting in capable hand or slide deeper into self inflicting pains by queuing behind average hand. We have the chance now to make the best choice at the primary poll come 27th January, 2022.

Nigerians are fond of blaming the government for their personal and collective shortcomings. We never at any time appraise our journey to our destination. We only agonize when we failed to realize our hope and vision after every election. During election, the general and common mistake is the failure to appraise properly those people that come to us to seek our votes. And when the process isn't right the product can't be great. Our attention must first be drawn to the quality of the character of the man or woman seeking for our votes. Voters must be able to measure the competence of the aspirants through measurable personal achievement indices.

Political association in every decent democracy is prompted by personal approval of a party political ideals, philosophy, projects and programs. When the above were the reasons for political association and participation, people's government was produced. It was impossible in those period to have government of the few, administered by the few and for the few.

Between 1979 to 1982, speedy development was witnessed in the old Ondo state. This success happened due to one fundamental; government was being driven by competent hands based on ideals, philosophy and people's focussed.

The present democracy in Ekiti can not be compared to the era discussed above. Politics is now being driven by selfish and personal gratification of one's desires at the expense of the larger society. Democracy is in trouble in our dear state. We politicians focus more on possible personal benefits and we most times undermine the norms and rules of the democracy. When we refuse to play by the rule, we directly distort the flow of the process and deny ourselves the right growth. No good thing can come out of such act.

Ekiti can get it right on the 27th January, 2022 if they truly want real growth and development. The 8 APC aspirants are well known people. The personal records of each of the 8 aspirants achievements and their characters are in the public view. All we need to do to get it right now onward is to vote for the very best based on their marks. Sentiments must be avoided at the poll if Ekiti must get out of her over reliance on federal monthly stipends. Ekiti is blessed with human and natural resources. All we need is the right man with the right credentials to lead in the industrialization of Ekiti State. We can't do otherwise if we want to end unemployment, poverty and rule of the few in Ekiti. This is not the time to chicken out, rather, this is the time to be bold, courageous and standfast to get the right man to the throne.

There is no new thing the crops of the present public managers can do. They have been in the saddle since 1999 and their best isn't good enough. A change of guard to bring fresh ideas, innovation and strength to governance is required in Ekiti now. We can't continue to do same thing and expect different result. Time is now to push forward a new people, a new prospect and a new ideals in the government of Ekiti State. Enough of recycling of same people.

Finally, I will put this to you. I want to ask; will Nigeria be in the present state if Late Awolowo had ruled this country for four years? Give Ekiti to Engr. Kayode Ojo to govern to put the state on a higher path. 27th January, 2022 is the day and you are to make the change we all crave happen.
