Presidential Aspirant, Okupe Promises To Step Down For An Igbo Candidate by Oluwamarc(m): 6:43pm On Jan 24, 2022
Presidential Aspirant, Dr. Doyin Okupe has stated that he would volunteerily step down from the presidential race if there's a National concessus to give the Southeast the Presidency come 2023.

The Former Presidential spokesperson who is seeking to contest the 2023 presidential election under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) stated this during a live interview on City 105.1 with Reuben Abati

While making reference to the consensus made in the year 1998 which saw to the emergence of a national concession which paved the way for Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, he explained that he would support a candidate like Dr. Peter Obi who he respects so much and believes has the much needed credentials to move the nation forward.

He also explained that if there is no consensus to zone the presidency to the Southeast, he would be actively pursuing his interest to contest the presidential election come 2023.

Dr. Doyin Okupe also revealed that he has the best credentials and qualities to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari when he eventually leaves office, according to him,"of all the people who has come out to declare their interest for the Presidency, I believe that I am the most qualified"

"I have worked with two former presidents which gave me the opportunity to understudy them and learn from them and this has prepared me well".

He also explained that if elected,he would ensure that the nation has a more sustainable yielding asset away from Crude Oil, he also identified Gas as a more viable option through which the nation can leverage on to sustain itself.

Also while reacting to questions regarding fuel subsidy removal, he explained that it's intolerable that the nation is spending too much on fuel subsidy, he explained that if given the chance,he would remove the fuel subsidy but will also ensure that a better condition is provided for Nigerians to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal

as political veteran, the post of the presidency is a highly competitive one and it must be contested even when there's a consensus amongst the party

the office of the Presidency which is to be contested in the year 2023 is a competitive one which must be made opened for everyone to contest.
