Steps
y-6=3
Group all constants on the right side of the equation.
Add 6 to both sides
y-6+6=3+6
Simplify the arithmetic
y=3+6
Simplify the arithmetic
y=9
Answer y=9

Lol

50% would fail it.
98% would not even attempt it.

tongue tongue
Olodo, speak for yourself. That's Factorial.
No brain to solve this simple equation but we are waiting for the next thread where you'd deploy all your energy in writing a foolscap sheet of senselesness.

Lol, this is not just a simple open sentence, as it is called in Pry Maths.

3! means 3 factorial which equals 3×2×1 = 6.

The value of the unknown (y) is 12.

jericco1:
I wonder how you people got 12.

Una go just dey one place dey create countless problems for person

Funny grin grin

Y-6=3!
3!= 3×2×1=6
Y-6=6
Add +6 to sides
Y-6+6=6+6
-6+6 will cancel out
Y=12
Answer y=12

I had forgotten that it had factorial symbol beside it.

You no want wetin go give u headache.
Yes o! Na so lecturer write on board a mathematical problem and aksed one olodo to solve the problem, my guy got up majestically, grab chalk, grab duster, get to the board use duster clean everything on the board and write problem solved.

3! Is called 3 factorials which means 3×2×1= 6

Y - 6 =3! literally means Y - 6 = 6

Y= 6+ 6 which is 12.

How I wish this maths will add some millions to my account but unfortunately it won't. On funny thing is that many successful and rich guys don't know this maths so it makes me to wonder of what benefit will this be to me .....after thinking for so long I discovered that it won't benefit me in any way, so as a result of this I hereby say "to hell with the maths"

Hahahaha na only who know answer de talk say de question dey simple. No matter how simple it looks, people will beautifully fail it. You see that symbol "!" wey follow 3 no be punctuation mark o, dem de call am "factorial"...3! means 3x2x1 = 6.....5! means 5x4x3x2x1 =120
Thus,
Y-6 = 3!
Y-6 = 6
Y = 6+6 = 12
I didn't see d factoral sign..
If its there, then d answer is 12

Simple

You even took the time to show how you arrived at the wrong answer.
If it is Y-6=3, then d right answer is 9
But
If it is Y-6=3!, u r right.. I got it wrong. The answer is 12.
Big mistake. Not properly checking questions before answering has caused many failures.

That's ok. Don't be despondent though, in truth trick questions are never justifiable.

Na u kno...

Wetin I solve na Y-6=3 (n I correctly got d answer as 9)
Or is dt wrong?

If there is a factorial, which I missed inexplicably, the answer changes.

So be calming down... D question was a trick question, n anything can happen.

Factorial: Denoted by the exclamation mark (!). Factorial means to multiply by decreasing positive
! = Fraction of the number and if applied to the maths
The answer stands at 3! = 3+2+1 = 6

12- 6 = 6 = 3!
Re: Mathematics Challenge: 50% Will Fail This! by ScofieldBello(m): 11:12am On Mar 27, 2022
Name is Factorial. kiss

n! = n X (n-1) X (n-2) X ... X 1

DrFunmisticGlow:
it's C

That exclamation mark means 3x2x1=6
I have forgotten what they call it

Haven't done mathematics is 12 years. Sue me.
