Factorial sign means !,so anything like n! = n x (n-1).....

Thus or so therefore

3! = 3 x (3-1)! = 6

So Y - 3 = 6

Hence, the smug ones are saying 9 is the answer, which is correct!

Re: Mathematics Challenge: 50% Will Fail This! by etimism1981: 11:31am On Jan 26, 2022
Good boy. The Answer is 12.
Explanation

Any number follow by ( ! ) You have to apply the factorial system which is n=(n-1(n-2)(n-3)
Which 3 is substitute to all the "n" value.
This same applicable if other number is used such as 4, 5, 9, you just expand the formula to 4, 5, etc, and multiple.

Thanks for the question. This is what we need in Nigeria. Instead talking insensible things.

Mathematically, Y = 12
Grammatically, Y = 9

Those who got 12 and went ahead to show the working have failed technically due to failure to comply with instruction. Learn to follow instruction!

Those of una wey dey type many many things,e dey very clear say una no go school at all.....

9 cool

Let me lecture you a little. In mathematics, an exclamation mark after a number signifies factorial.

When you see 2! It means 2x1
3! Means 3x2x1
4! Means 4x3x2x1
18! Means 18x17x16x15x14x........ Down to x1

I hope you have learned something today.

Y-6=3!
Y-6=3×2×1
3! (3 factorial = 3x2x1)
Y-6=6
Take like terms
Y=6+6
Y=12 (Answer)

Shikena!

Do you know you failed this question, simply because you did not yield to simple instruction " Do not show any working".
If everyone gets the answer, something will be used for screening ......!

I wonder how you people got 12.

Una go just dey one place dey create countless problems for person

Y-6=3!
! is called factorial in Further Mathematics.
6! means 6*5*4*3*2*1=720.
5! means 5*4*3*2*1=120.
4! means 4*3*2*1=24.
So also 3! is 3*2*1=6.
2! means 2*1=2.
1! means 1*1=1.
Coming back to the problem above:
Y-6=3*2*1
Y-6=6
Making Y subject of formula gives
Y=6+6 ( the minus 6 crosses the equality sign it changes to plus 6)
Adding gives Y = 12.
Hope this helps , but if you did Further Maths in Secondary school it will be clearer.

Na 9 be the answer

Y-6 =3
Y = 3+6
Y = 9

Y - 6 = 3 and Y - 6 = 3!
The equations above are different
3! = 3 x 2 x 1 = 6

Therefore
Y - 6 = 3!
Y - 6 = 3 x 2 x 1
Y - 6 = 6
Y = 6 + 6
Y = 12

Y-6=3!
Making Y the subject of formula
Y=3!+6 note when minus;(-)) crosse's the sign of equality it will change to plus!(+)
So 3×2×1+6
=6+6= 12 the answer is 12
