Back in 1965, people were calling on the Nigerian army to organize coup. The army heard them...or Nzeogwu heard them, and did his coup.

At the end of the day, what did we get. Four years of intermittent then continuous violence from 1966-70.

And by 1975, we were crying for democracy. When Gowon told us that we were not ready for democracy, we cried abuse, and hailed the Murtala Obasanjo era that threw him out and eventually brought back democracy.

By 1983, we were crying to army to do coup because civillians were so corrupt.. Buhari heard us, and did coup. And within one year, corruption came back. IBB came and dialed up the corruption to eleven, and then there was the Abachan style of corruption

At the end, everytime we get army rule, we don't get the government of our dreams. Nzeogwu had his coup even hijacked by the elite, and by others, and within one year he was dead. But even if he had been succesful, it would have been decades of very harsh rule.

Many people calling for coup are angry with Nigeria and with the injustice and bad leadership in this country. I agree with them 100%. But Army rule won't change things. The same tribalism, religionalism, and corruption will just carry on from where they left off under civilian rule.If you want good government, you have to work for it. Army is made up of the same corrupt Nigerian base that makes up the democratic rulers. Expecting ready made change from them is like asking for a guava tree to produce bananas.
