Update from SIGGY .ng

A lecturer at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology left his students surprised and speechless when he decided to surprise them by checking their notes, Siggy reports.

He was captured on tape marking the notebooks of 300 level students in class. The lecturer was marking the notebooks with all seriousness, but some of the students still saw it as a joke.

The video however ignited fond school memories for graduates on social media who revealed how it reminded them of similar acts carried out by lecturers at their respective school.

Marking notes ain't peculiar to only secondary schools. Keeping notes up to date is a continuous assessment in some foreign tertiary institutions.

He isn't doing bad at all.

boss during my final year last year, the lecturer was busy dictating a whole lot of notes but the students were not writing, others were fiddling with their phones, this irritated the lady that she started marking the notes of those who were writing and allotted 30 marks which is a full CA to it.

Guy leave that story you are not talking to children or villagers

If you are doing research for a thesis like a PhD your thesis is what is marked and there is scope for amendment under advice from your supervisor but once you submit that is it. There is nothing like continuous assessment for "notes" that is nonsense

First of, what you know is what you know. You don't know what you don't know. Like I incipiently said, several institutions in Europe use notes as continuous assessment.

Research is not just thesis or dissertation. Research is the primary essence of all your engagements in the university. The lectures, the homeworks, the personal readings, surveys, etc. Notes, in many settings, are taken as homeworks (as per personal research). They are graded.

It's folly to quiz or ridicule what you don't know just because you don't know it. The world doesn't revolve around your exposure. The joke will be on you.

"The rubbish you are saying" is an issue with your home training.
