I gave an artisan who is also my friend some money to make so furniture for me around March 2021 but he kept delaying until I got tired and told him to refund my money (May 2021).

It took him about 3 months to refund about 30% of the total amount and that was around July 2021.

I kept sending messages to remind him of the balance but he never responded. There was a time he stopped picking up my calls. The last time I confronted him he told me he was broke and that I should give him more time.

He isn't sick or disabled and he is working and receives jobs to do. I guess he feels paying me isn't a priority as I have never involved the police or any security agencies.

Please how can I retrieve my money legally as using police to recover a debt is illegal?

Though the amount is small but I need it to take of some bills. Suggestions please

Involve the cops to get him arrested.

Their cut is usually 10% of the fund retrieved/involved.

Thanks for the advice, thoughi know that is what people do but i understand that it is illegal.
