In year 2001 Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State returned many schools to missionaries. This action led to agitation and disappointment among Muslims in Lagos state.
Muslim students society of Nigeria gathered thousands of Muslim students from schools all over the state and led protest mach to Alausa, Lagos state government secretariat. I was in SS 1 then. The governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcome the students and spoke with their representatives. During their discussions he asked them a simple question that is it right for someone to make promise and refuse to fulfill it according to Islamic doctrine? The Muslim student responded ' it's not right' what the question means was that when he was campaigning for election, he made promise to Lagos State Christian association to return schools to missionary and he fulfilled the promise. That made the Muslim students to calm and dispersed quietly.

Nigerian government under General Gowon administration legitimately took over missionary schools all over the country. It is totally wrong for any christian body to believe that missionary schools can be taken over from government by force. The schools are maintained and staffed by the government. Baptist high school, Ijagbo is not a missionary school it is a government school and so CAN can not dictate for government. The name baptist carried by the school is retained by government to honor the memory of those who founded the school, it doesn't mean it is a christian school.

If Kwara state Christian Association wants the missionary schools returned, it should negotiate with government or a prospective candidate during election as it was done in Lagos and some state in the Eastern part of Nigeria instead of killing Muslim students who are demanding for their right under the law.

After Lagos state returned some schools back to the missionaries many christian parents who could not afford the school fees withdrew their children to another government school.

Those parents supporting CAN would not be able to afford the school fees if the school is eventually returned.

Muslims in kwara won't allow christians over there rest.... Why not leave christians schools boldly bearing christian names for christians and work to upgrade your substandard islamiyya schools! You will see them arguing that the school is being funded by state government! The christians there have asked the government to return their schools back to them and stop the funding but because the government there are all islamists who are perpetually trouble makers, they have refused to return the schools back to the church! Wicked set of islamists...if they were to be the original owners of these Schools, will they even tolerate such Evil doers
