You think so? Nato knew this war will come by moving up to the Russian boarder. Can the US allow China and Russia to base troops and equipment in Mexico, Canada? Can't you remember the Cuban missile crises?

Imagine Russia having a naval base in the US gulf of Mexico.
Once Ukraine joins nato, Russia has been successfully contained by the US.

Besides the Russia economy won't be able to sustain a prolonged war..when the Soviet Union collapse Russia and Ukraine emerged the biggest... Ukraine won't be a push over.. Seems to be a one sided argument from you. Russia is expanding its military presence sporadically – making some in the West nervous. The US and Nato have made clear they want a dialogue with Russia to avoid conflict, and Moscow wants something else!

Russia wants assurances that Ukraine will never be allowed to join Nato; that Nato members will have no permanent forces or infrastructure based in Ukraine; and for a halt to military exercises near Russia's border.
Nato insists it is a defensive alliance and not a threat to Russia. Putin does not have the right to dictate to a sovereign nation!
