2023: Uyo Local Government adopts Pastor Umo Eno 

... pledges unalloyed support for Governor Udom Emmanuel 

The Political Leader of Uyo, Prince Enobong Uwah has commended the people of the Local Government for their unanimous adoption of Pastor Umo Eno as their sole Governorship aspirant for the 2023 Polls.

Prince Uwah, who is the Executive Chairman of the Uyo Capital City Development Authority and Secretary of Maintain Peace Movement, MPM, gave the commendation when Uyo leaders and stakeholders gathered at his Shelter Afrique Estate residence on Tuesday,  February 15, 2022, to pass their endorsement on Pastor Umo Eno who emerged as Governor Udom Emmanuel's preferred successor. 

The motion for the adoption of Pastor Umo Eno, the incumbent Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources as the sole Governorship candidate was moved by the member representing Uyo State Constituency, in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly,  AKHA, Rt. Hon. Anietie Eka and seconded by former Deputy Majority leader in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Rev. Barr. Aniedi Ndem.

Eka while moving the motion said the people of Uyo are willing to identify with and support Governor Emmanuel who he said has given direction on his preferred successor. 

Setting the tone, immediate past member representing Uyo State Constituency in the AKHA and current Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Rt Hon. Monday Eyo said after giving Akwa Ibom purposeful leadership in the last six years plus, Governor Emmanuel has shown the way that would guarantee a consolidation on his sterling achievements in office and above all sustain the prevailing peace in the State. 

Hon. Eyo said Uyo people came to declare and intimate the Political leader on their position endorsing Pastor Umo Eno.

On his part, Sir Charles Udoh, who serves as Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals said Uyo people appreciate the massive underground drainage project to deflood Uyo and other gully Erosion intervention projects embarked upon by Governor Emmanuel in and around Uyo.

While thanking Governor Emmanuel, Sir Charles Udoh said Uyo people came to demonstrate solidarity and intimate the Political leader on how they intend to get fully involved in ensuring the victory of his preferred successor come 2023.

The Executive Chairman of Uyo, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo in his remarks said the people of Uyo are wholly committed to supporting Governor Udom Emmanuel’s completion agenda and succession plan and as such unequivocally endorse the preferred choice of the Governor being Pastor Umo Eno. 

Dr. Udo said Pastor Umo Eno is a very wise choice given his track record as a very successful entrepreneur who knows how to create jobs and wealth. He expressed confidence that Pastor Eno will sustain the peace in the State and continue to build on the success of Governor Emmanuel. 

Also speaking, Dr. John James Etim, the Commissioner for Power and Petroleum Development, said he is totally in accord with the decision of Uyo to adopt Pastor Eno as their sole candidate for the Governorship and pledged to mobilize the people around the project. 

Other speakers who gave goodwill messages of affirmation included the Uyo Chapter Chairman of PDP, Mr. Enefiok Udofia, Obong Augustine Ikpe, Special Assistant to the Governor on Marketing and Brand Management, Mr. Ime Uwah, Leader of Uyo Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Ubong Effiong, Chairman, forum of former Chairmen, Chief Clement Ekott and a  Commissioner in the House of Assembly Service Commission, Dr. Roberta Edem.

The enlarged meeting of Uyo had in attendance all 13 out of 14 Councillors of Uyo, all the Supervisory Councillors/Special Advisers serving and former political office holders, women, youth groups, statutory delegates from all the Wards and community leaders.

grin Senator Obong Albert Akpan (OBA) and Hon. Aniefiok Luke are in trouble. they should withdraw their candidacy and end their Governorship ambition.
