The Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Professor Sunday Oge Elom has inaugurated the Board of Trustees of the institution’s radio station, 104.7FM.

The constitution and inauguration of the Board is part of the requirements for the licensing of the radio station by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

Speaking at the event, the Vice-chancellor vowed to support the activities of the station to make it viable and a reference point in this part of the world.



He also congratulated the members of the Board, stating that management has selected the best people to do the work, adding that their selection was based on personal merit and antecedents, and pleaded with them to apply all the seriousness that is required to deliver on their mandate.



Speaking further, Prof. Elom enjoined the Board to put in extra work in order to secure a radio licence for the station in the nearest future.

While speaking during the inauguration, the Chairman, Management Board of the station, Prof. Michael Onuu applauded the Vice-Chancellor for seeing the need to establish a functional radio station in the University, adding that Information and Communication Technology is the way to go in putting the activities of the University in the limelight.



Continuing, he noted that the terms of reference of the Board were to make policy for the running of the station, support the station’s vision and mission and ensure that there is sustainability, and to evaluate performance and support staff as well as review programs.

Contributing, the station’s manager, Chris Akubuiro appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for constituting the board, adding that with the caliber of people selected as members, and support of the management, the station will be one of the best in radio programming.



Members of the Committee are: Vice-Chancellor (Chairman), Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Registrar, Bursar, University Public Relations Officer, Head, Department of Mass Communication, Head, Department of Physics, Head, Department of Theatre Arts, Head, Department of Electrical/Electronics, and Manager, AE-FUNAI Radio station (Secretary/Member).
