The World Health Organization has concluded its investigation into the origin of COVID-19 in China. The team said it was highly unlikely that the virus would leak from the lab, and scientists almost agreed that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, came from bats. So the most likely hypothesis, the team says, is that the virus originated in bats, then entered an intermediate host, such as a pangolin or mink, and then entered humans. Exactly what animal that was and where it happened remains a big mystery. However, they said the outbreak did not start at the Huanan seafood market. Before that, the virus was already spreading. So they were trying to figure out how the virus got into the market. One possibility, they say, is frozen food.
