Just imagine educational statistics of a whole state. Yet these illiterates are richer than the educated ones down south.

Flip the other side, then one useless animal online or anywhere will be preaching unity with this gutter people.

Biafra must come o. I am too sophisticated to share same country with some people. It is not by force to stay together abeg.

That's bad. The good thing is they have recognized the problem ... now they can sit and come up with a plan to solve it. How many other States have even recognize they have the same problem?

Why are people shocked when cut off mark for students from Borno, Zamfara and most part of the North to enter into Federal Unity Colleges is 20 and below while, same students from schools from Southern Nigeria must attain cut off marks of 150 and above to get admitted into the same Federal Government Colleges.

Quota system is a bisshhh!

It's over for that state, if your teachers are bad, the future of the state is heading towards doom and destruction
Beat advice, he should overhaul the subeb and tescom staff of train them in the right manner, then probably employ an agency to takever the recruitment process for the main time of training

Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum, on Thursday, described as “very scary” some findings submitted to him by a committee he constituted and tasked with conducting basic literacy and numeracy competency assessment of 17,229 local education authority teachers across the 27 local government areas of the state.

E shock you? The products of this failed educational system are the M0R0NS that are running the government and you expect progress? You must be joking!

How was the so-called assessment made? How did they arrive at the competent, not-competent, teachable, non-teachable verdict?

They should publish the methods used. They shouldn't stop at publishing sensational stories just to get people carried away.

It's not enough to just wake up and publish stories affecting the livelihood of thousands of human beings in this manner.

What is the reason/motivation for carrying out such exercise? When was the exercise carried out? Who are the consultants employed? What method of measurement/assessment did they use? Under what conditions did they do it? Etc.

Politicians already know that the level of critical thinking of the people is very low. And they know the kind of headlines that are appropriate for fooling the ever gullible public, especially when they want to pursue a sinister agenda.

Africans have to learn how to demand transparency from government in all they do beyond applauding every bizarre decisions being taken. African people should develop critical thinking skills.

Some pertinent questions to ask the authorities include:

Were these teachers incompetent, not-teachable when Prof. Zulum himself passed through that same system?

Does the Borno State Government want to sack its workers because of the wage bill/fiscal stress and looking for whom to sack and the justification?

What is the fate of these "incompetent, not-teachable" school teachers now?

What is the arrangement for their severance in view of the volatile environment and the potential for recruitment into terrorism and banditry right there in Borno?

Assuming these people are not classroom "teachable" as alleged, what is effort the government is making to teach them other productive skills so that they won't offer their services to those who would teach them how to terrorize other people or come rushing down south in their thousands to ride "Okada"?
