Was Jesus working indirectly for the Romans at that time. Here are some good reasons for this:
1. Jesus predicted that Judea would be destroyed and the Romans destroyed Judea around 66 AD.
2. Jesus predicted that the Temple in Jerusalem will be destroyed and no stone will be left on another and the Romans truly destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD, they left no stone on another and the inhabitants were not spared.
3. Jesus promised that for the sake of the elect He would return immediately after the distress above and if not no one would survive.

2000 years have now passed and Jesus still has not returned when He promised He would return immediately after the distress above.
Jesus promised He would rise up in three days, and in less than 3 days He did, He did not wait for 3000 years.

It was after the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and the Old Testament scrolls were taken to Roman that we now have access to the true GOD of the Old Testament if not the Old Testament would have still been in the Temple in Jerusalem till today and only those in the Temple in Jerusalem would have continued to have access to The True GOD in the Old Testament.
