Rishi Sunak has responded to Boris Johnson's decision to impose immediate sanctions this afternoon.

Josep Borrell: EU will respond with a matter of urgency

In a declaration on behalf of the European Union, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said today that: “we urge Russia, as a party to the conflict, to reverse the recognition, uphold its commitments, abide by international law and return to the discussions within the Normandy format and the Trilateral Contact Group.”

The EU, according to the declaration, “will respond to these latest violations as a matter of urgency with additional restrictive measures, including on all economic relations with the non-governmental controlled areas, as well as designations against individuals and entities responsible for undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine, in coordination with our partners.”

Borrell has also warned Moscow “against using the newly signed pacts with the self-proclaimed ‘republics’ as a pretext for taking further military steps against Ukraine.”

Putins intentions are beyond NATO... Germany chancellor, already assured him that they will frustrate Ukraine's plan of joining NATO.... France's Emmanuel Macron also gave him same assurance but he still wants to destroy Ukraine.

This battle is between Democracy and Autocracy.

Ukrainians and Russians are the same people, sharing same heritage, culture and traditions so if Ukraine should succeed as a democracy, Russians will demand to have a democratic settings which could spark massive protests like the Arab spring and threaten his power.
