He was encouraging Zelinski to make mouth anyhow instead of encouraging him to talk to Putin, afterall both of them are named Vladimir and they both speak Russian. Now that the war has started, will America and the West sent troops to Ukraine to protect them.

Even though I don't like Trump, I know he would not have antagonize Putin to the point of invading Ukraine. He would have told Zelinski "you are in your own" and he would have been forced to negotiate with Putin.

Because Putin had made it clear from the beginning that he will never accept the idea of Ukraine and Georgia joining NATO or EU. He would rather die than let that happen. Ukraine should have pledged to remain neutral just like Switzerland in WW2.

What is happening in Ukraine is a struggle for control of Ukraine. While the US uses aids, money and democracy to control Ukraine, Russia feels the only option left for her is force.
