German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Tuesday that Germany has taken steps to halt the process of certifying the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia.

He told reporters in Berlin that his government was taking the measure in response to Russia's actions in Ukraine.
"That sounds technical, but it is the necessary administrative step so there can be no certification of the pipeline and without this certification, Nord Stream 2 cannot begin operating," Scholz said.


Construction of the pipeline project has been completed, but
the project still needed regulatory certification from German
authorities before the gas could be delivered.

If Europe stop buying oil from Russia, they will start buying from USA and the Arabs. When that happens, the USA and Arabs won't be able to sell to those in Asia anymore. Which means it is Russian gases that Asians will start buying for a much cheaper amount.

Now, most U.S. LNG exports goes to Asia with about 13% going to South Korea, 13% to China and 10% to Japan, according to U.S. energy data. So in total, USA exports 36% of its gas to Asia.

Europe takes 48% of Russia's oil. Should they stop buying from Russia and start buying from USA, USA will automatically stop selling that 36% they normally export to Asia and start exporting them to Europe instead (which wouldn't still be enough considering the fact that it is clearly not up to the 48% they get from Russia.)

This leaves Asia with the only option of buying Russian gas. 100% - 48% = 52%.
52% + 36% + 2% = 90%. Meaning 90% of Russian gas will start going to the Asian countries.

Europe will start making use of USA LNG gas and not even pipelines making it more expensive
