1) Igbo must demand for an Igbo presidency without concessions

2) Even though some Igbos are jostling for it, not all are fit to be president

3) Before Ndigbo reach a consensus for someone to vote, they should make sure that the person is competent and will represent Igbo interest and that of southern minorities and also be fair to the rest of the country

4) Igbo should realize that the greatest weapon used against the tribe by the British and Nigeria is the Divide and Rule strategy. This is why the southern minorities do not mind being victimized because they have been brainwashed to believe that the success of Ndigbo is inversely proportional to theirs. Those behind this strategy are aware that Igbo will protect the interest of the minorities if empowered. That, is a fearful proposition to those dividing the south and the east.

5) Any consensus candidate must promise that they will open up southern ports of Warri, Calabar, Akwa Ibom and Port Harcourt to international shipping. The era of going all the way to Lagos for good should end.

6) The next president must have the will to do the right thing. This is why I think that Peter Obi and Chibuike Amaechi should be in the radar of Ndigbo. In fact, any southerner or Easterner that doesn't open up southern ports is near-sighted and should not be bothered with. Igbo should get this assurance before supporting any of these men.
