Where did we get it wrong, cattle and meat production leads to environmental pollution. Cattle release methane, which is 23 times more harmful than carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas in car emissions.Besides cow’s gas, their manure can be problematic. The phosphorus and nitrogen in cow manure, after it’s applied to farmland as fertilizer, can run off with rainfall into local waterways, contributing to algal blooms that turn the water green and can produce toxins harmful to drinking water. Instead of advocating for reduction of beef consumption, increase in vegetables and chicken, and going green to safe our lungs and breathe in fresh air, the government is encouraging pollution by funding cattle purchase. We're far behind in Africa |
