Very unprofessional but then sacking them is a bit too extreme.

They should have been cautioned or punished lightly and not sacked

Some bosses are unnecessarily wicked

Not just wicked but unprofessional. Maybe the rules are different for low leveled staff, but you don’t just wake and sack someone. When it isn’t a case of fraud or some hefty offense. A caution would have sufficed. Even a second time should be met with suspension, not outright dismissal. These private organizations do too much.

Not sure it was actually chicken Republic that sacked them. Most security are 3rd party contract. All required is a query from head office to the provider.

And once you are in a job with no union, you can be sacked at will.

Nigeria doesn't have a good labour law, the industrial court isn't accessible to ordinary citizens, even ministry of Labour at the secretariat is filled with jobless civil servants... This is why appointments are terminated anyhow without queries , warning or compensation

Funny thing is other bigger fast food outlets hire mascots to dance and entertain customers

Sad one for them, definitely wasn't in their job description. They should have just gotten an Oraimo Freepod and be vibing to their music on a low.

They deserved the sack. You don't joke with security. A security guard isn't supposed to be dancing while on duty. And they didn't even do it for just a few seconds. That's so unprofessional of them. It would have been a different case if they were waiters

African way of reasoning is very bad. I do not praise them by dacing while on duty. But question is how dacing on duty distract them from working. Better thing is to call them and warn them that's all.
They would have been sacked the moment they threw their legs sideways if it was in a developed country. They are security guards. You think say you wise

Lack of professionalism is what they displayed.

You are not the mascot employed to clown around so why dance?

Soon the food servers will stage their own danceathon while serving customers.

Some of us play too much, even during our jobs.

Now they have learnt a good lesson on being a professional

Bro! There is nothing wrong in what they did. So far they are doing what the company employed them to do. It is only in Africa that employers treat their employees anyhow. Anyone can dance in his or her workplace so far it doesn't disrupt the work flow.

Thanks! God bless you for this comment, you are one of the minority in nairaland that has a good thinking faculty. Our labour union in this country are very useless that's why employers treat their employees badly. Those guys did nothing wrong so far it doesn't disturb the work flow..

Sorry ooo, mister that owns a business and knows everything about it

In as much as what they did was unprofessional. But a query or suspension would have been better.

You're saying this because you have no clue what security entails. I did that job some years back and it's really tough. What they did was unprofessional. People are complaining out of sentiments and the fact it's security job which is very much underrated in Nigeria as they're paid peanuts and always receive insults. Anything could have happened the moment they started dancing

But they can employ ladies that dress almost half naked to dance like their lives depend on it just for advert? While with the meagre salaries these guys combined both jobs seamlessly, now they are saying professional yen yen... When banks open new branches do they employ dancers to come and start shaking butt about?
