You are right. Just to add that other ethnic groups in SU played significant roles.Russians made up of 50% of former SU. Even the battle of stalingrad were fought by Soviets troops, 35% of whom were Ukrainians while the leader of SU was a Georgian not Russia. Most nuclear warheads were developed by Soviet scientsist not only Russian scientists.
