False teachers/prophets are always attractive, they are always people-pleasing, they do everything to present themselves as harmless, fun to be with, catchy, they can entice unsuspecting victims with money, gifts etc all to make people come to them not out of genuine concern for their needs but to draw them close and so that they can give them listening ears. By their fruits you know them, they appear all smiling but their mission is to draw people down to hell with themselves. False teachers do not release all their poison at once they release it gradually, most times mixing it with the truth so victims do not realise on time. One character of a false teacher is that they are not under authority of the apostles, they are independent, they may claim to be from Jesus directly, their teachings are not inline with the apostlic teachings. They always bring some form of new light or inspirations or new knowledge. Some establish a sect, some even review the whole Bible edit and add extra to it or remove from it. Their teachings may claim to expand, add research assumptions etc into the bible to balance things. Their fruit is heresy, they cause apostasy, bring reproach to the name of christ and encourage sin and lawlessness.
