Good News - India ‘Overtakes’ Nigeria As World’s Poverty Capital by NwaNimo1(m): 9:35pm On Mar 09, 2022 |
India has surpassed Nigeria as the nation with the highest number of extremely poor people. The World Poverty Clock (WPC) said this in its recent update, considering the COVID-19 pandemic economic effect. The World Poverty Clock is an online tool that monitors the progress against poverty globally and regionally and provides real-time poverty data across countries. According to its data, extremely poor people are those living on N800 per day (less than $2 per day). In 2018, Nigeria held the position with about 87 million people in extreme poverty, compared with India’s 73 million. According to the new data, about 83 million Indians have been plunged into extreme poverty in 2022, representing 6 percent of the country’s population which stands at 1.3 billion. For Nigeria, WPC said 70 million people are living in extreme poverty, representing 33 percent of Nigeria’s over 200 million people. In 2020, the National Bureau Of Statistics (NBS) said more than 80 million Nigerians live in extreme poverty (on a dollar per day). https://www.thecable.ng/india-overtakes-nigeria-as-worlds-poverty-capital 1 Like |

India has 1bn population and 83 million people are poor. Nigeria has 200m population and 80 million people are poor. 6% vs 33%. India is still far far far better than Nigeria. Nigeria is still the poverty capital of the world. 31 Likes 3 Shares |

foryourmindlol: Shut up, LIAR. Who told you that only 83 million Indians ''are poor''? Better get your dumbass to India and see mass poverty. Mumu people typing rubbish. As for the 'poverty capital' tab, it is based on the NUMBER of people in a country living in extreme poverty, and has NOTHING to do with 'percentages'. INDIA now has 83 million in extreme poverty, while Nigeria has 70 million, down from the previous 87 million, meaning INDIA is the 'poverty capital of the world' today. END OF STORY. Any other configuration you draw up in your self-hating heads is your business. The world has said what the truth is. If YOU decide that 'percentages' is what you use to define your 'poverty capital' then Nigeria is NOT that poverty capital, since there are MANY OTHER COUNTRIES with over 33% extreme poverty. Somalia for example has 56% of its population in extreme poverty. Eritrea, 76% Guinea-Bissau, 65% Congo DRC, 72% etc etc https://worldpoverty.io/map There are many countries in Africa with 50, 60, 70% extreme poverty rates, eg Niger Republic, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone etc, so by WHATEVER criteria you use, Nigeria is NOT the world's 'poverty capital' today. Now run along and look for something else to hate yourselves for. 4 Likes |

foryourmindlol: LIAR FROM HELL. You are posting worthless rubbish from two years ago. The LATEST edition (2022) of World Terrorism Index places Nigeria at 6TH, not 2nd, meaning we are finally TURNING THE CORNER. We can CONFIDENTLY expect next year's figures to show a further depreciation in Nigeria's rankings, with the success govt has had in recent months against BH.: Latest stats: 1 Afghanistan 2 Iraq 3 Somalia 4 Burkina Faso 5 Syria 6 Nigeria 7 Mali 8 Niger 9 Myanmar 10 Pakistan 11 Cameroun 12 India 13 Mozambique 14 Colombia 15 Egypt https://reliefweb.int/sites/reliefweb.int/files/resources/GTI-2022-web.pdf 1 Like |

Reflect7:So because it's from 2years ago makes it incorrect? Well, screenshot from your "current" data shows Nigeria is not far better off Somalia, a shithole that has been in civil war since 1991 till date. But we're meant to believe that Nigeria is the "giant of Africa" and is competing with India. LMAO. Like I said, Nigeria is competing with Somalia not India. 1 Like

foryourmindlol: ABEG SHUT UP, LIAR. Why didn't you post the latest 2022 figures initially, instead of the 2020 one? You have an agenda here to portray Nigeria as the worst, because you are an evil person. India is a very poor country, and there is no ''competition'' among developing nations except in your self-hating, inferiority complex ridden head. 1 Like |

[s] Reflect7:[/s] Fraudgerian animal in the zoo, I searched the whole Google. Somalia president does not pack his dry bones and lay in London hospitals like the despot you imposed on yourself in Nigeria. Somalia is not known internationally for fraud. When you say "Somalian prince", it means a prince from Somalia. "Nigerian prince" otherwise is the general name given for all internet scammers in the world. 2 Likes 1 Share

foryourmindlol: OH SHUT UP......Half of Afghanistan's population live in extreme poverty. Their GDP per capita is 2,000 dollars compared to Nigeria's 5,100 dollars. They are in a terrible state out there, and Nigeria giving them 1 million dollars in aid is a humanitarian gesture. If you don't like it, go and rot in hell, you and ASUU. Is 1 million dollars more than the money ASUU chiefs have embezzled from the numerous govt allocations they've received? The worst university under ASUU is in better shape than Afghanistan's best universities. |
