A Pattern Fiasco – The Crowning of Dementia at Ibadan.

Ibadan is ingrained with congenital disorganization which has manifested on several fronts. News was awash with the messy occurrence at the gate of the newly renovated stadium where the Alaafin and Olubadan were both grandstanded due to the retune of the mobile apparatuses and paraphernalia that characterize and trails their presence at any function or public engagements. You would want to belief that officials and concerned government functionaries are conversant with the attendant parts and parcels of the titles in question. Alas, they all forgot and exposed the two monarchs to a brazen embarrassment, such that the entire world wondered at the ridicule accorded the Yoruba traditional title holders. We were informed that both Obas returned to their respective palaces, to unscheduled functions of empty palaces, disappointed crest fallen at the height of glaring disrespect to the offices.

They also forgot to plug all maladies of the reason for relaunching the renovated stadium. The occasion was an eyesore as the main pitch was flooded, thanks to heavens for opening up and pouring to expose the defects in a purported renovation.

One should expect a redress of deficiency and ineffectiveness of public functionaries, with all experiences that casts all images of dereliction and perhaps incapability of a university town. Belief you me all deficiencies that should have served as guides were thrown to the winds. More of such disorganization traits follows.

A new Olubadan was installed at the ancient town, recently and you can trust that all shameful attributes of a pathological inaccuracies ensued.

They forgot yet again that they had to make provisions for the Oloris. There was no sitting arrangement to accommodate the superfluous women of the new Olubadan, they were left standing akimbo and agape throughout the installation ceremony enacted for their husband, the newly crowned Olubadan. Who was himself virtually carried to the ceremony and the podium? They forgot once again that the old man was near INVALID and has to be room for such condition. Whatever happened to the modern form of accommodation and or room for the cognitive, since Ibadan people expresses preference for the aged who are almost at their graves.

IT WAS DISTURBING AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY BAFFLING TO WATCH AN Oba TO BE CROWNED, TO BE CARRIED TO THE PODIUM FOR STAFF OF OFFICE.

The people and government that oversees Ibadan cannot explain to the world who witnessed the charade otherwise referred to as CROWNING, the reasons for absolute lack of crowd control. Everybody, both invitees dignitaries and the uninvited public struggled for and jostle for space. It was a belittling demeaning and a disgraceful sight to behold.

THE ULTIMATE ACCORDED TRAILING FORM OF DEMENTIA WAS YET TO COME.

The celebrant, the newly crowned monarch. Oba, Moshood Balogun. The new Olubadan, a near academia with sterling resume FORGOT the presence of the VIPs that sat with him for the duration of the ceremony. He forgot the man sitting right next to him, the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo. Ahh, the Onirisa was here he exclaimed. Not done, he forgot also, the person of former VP Abibakar Atiku and all that had bided him welcome at his entrance to the pavilion of VIPs.

THE NEW OLUBADAN REMEMBERED NOTHING AND NOBODY. WHAT DOES THIS PORTEND FOR THE NEW REIGN? TIME WILL TELL, SURELY.

However, the question remains how and when will these people at the seat of civilization ever get it right. The idiosyncrasies of IMCOMPETENCE and all other ILLs of modernity?

TO IMAGINE THAT THE OLORIs WOULD BE LEFT HANGING WITH THE CROWD IS INCONCEIVEABLE AND NO ONE WOULD HAVE NOTICED, BUT FOR THE BLARING ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE MASTER OF CEREMONY WHO SCREAMED THAT PROVISION SHOULD BE MADE TO CARVE A SPACE FOR A SITTING ARRANGEMENT FOR THEM.

The main historical event in Ibadan on 10th day of Mar 2022 was a classic display of the usual proven mediocrity of Ibadan people. Inconceivable that the details of the Oonirisa would have any kind of alternation with the security at the venue. A near fisticuffs ensued, a fracas averted in a brazen affront to the stool of Adimula.
