Obaseki defected to PDP and won election under the platform. Umahi's case is quite different. I'm not against him though because, it's not in the constitution of the people's democratic party that a member will leave office upon defection

That judgement was based on the premise that the votes that was cast was for PDP (principal) and not the candidate (agent) and in that judgement, Amaechi was recognised as the bonifide candidate of PDP despite the fact that Celestine Omehia was the one that contested the gubernatorial election. The implication of that judgement, is that you are voting for the party and not the candidate.

PDP is not distracting him, the party is only requesting for the certificate of returns that was issued by INEC which confirmed David Umahi of PDP as the duly elected governor of the State. APC wasn't declared the winner, so he should kindly vacate the seat and seek fresh mandate that will recognize him as David Umahi of APC.

Let me use this analogy.
Let's assume UNN offered you admission letter having satisfied the admission requirements, which is like winning a party primary.
You then proceed to offer all the courses and passed and a certificate is issued to you bearing your name and that of UNN.
After graduation and Certificate offered to you which is the same as winning election and certificate offered by INEC.
Will UNN stop you from deciding to further your studies in other school like ABU?
Umahi paid for the governorship form, the certificate bears his name, PDP is like his department and INEC is like University.
A department can only seek for withdrawal of your Certificate if they later discovered that you didn't satisfy the admission requirements, that the documents you tendered were falsified or that you were involved in Exams malpractice.
Let's be watching as things unfold.
