President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has reacted to the collapse of the National Grid. Ahmad insisted that power has improved under Buhari’s administration. He said that the system collapse on the National Grid was caused by a weak transmission system which was inherited from the previous administration. In a tweet, the Ahmad compared the national grid collapse Nigeria is experiencing now to what used to be the case. He pointed out that Nigeria experienced 42 grid collapses in 2010, but experienced only four collapses in 2020. Ahmad wrote: “When we’re ready to have this convo, we’ll know that the power sector has improved under this administration. "Grid collapse is usually caused by a weak transmission system (inherited). Intensive work being done to fix that is obvious. This is one of those times I wish we were in the era of Ananias and Sapphira, when thunder comes and strike you dead immediately you make dangerous and very obvious lies like this. Before PMB came in 2015, electricity in my area had a timetable of 5am-8am and 4pm-7pm which is cumulatively 6hrs per day. If rain falls or a little wind, forget light for the whole week. From PMB's time till now, the timetable remained the same, it is even worse now. The greed of the private power companies keeps increasing, they continue to make profit even when they supply zero power. Distribution will blame tansmission, transmission will blame distribution, but estimated billing continues despite the obvious failure. 2 Likes |

Lol... It is just unfortunate that lies have been told for so long that people can't take out time to find what is true anymore... The previous administration completed or partially completed at least 8 power stations... the goal was to improve the supply then tackle transmission... Unfortunately, pmb chose to play the propaganda card rather than quickly build on what was laid down. I recall around December 2015 when pmb was taking glory in the improved power supply. Sane persons told him that it was as a result of the work done before, that he shouldn't think that it is his BO that is working... Rather than quickly tackle the transmission stage which is fully within the purview of the FG, he was basking in unmerited praise for what he had no idea of... Intensive work has been going on for 7+ years yet the grid still collapsed back to back between Friday and yesterday... Till December last year, I use to travel all over Nigeria, due to my installation works, and I can authoritatively say that, the last time I saw any tangible investment made towards electricity generation, was during yar ardua and Jonathan era, massive installation of high tension wires and power station all over the country was carried out during these period, heavy bridges were built to transport the power station to certain areas then, I don't see anything going on now, or maybe according to lier Mohammed, the projects being done by Apc, were now so massive that people can't visualize it. |
