The FG needs to nationalise these GENCOS and take over power generation in Nigeria immediately.

This is the only way we will have stable light all over the country.

These GENCOS came to make quick money not invest in the power sector.

Power sector just like oil sector is capital intensive the only difference is oil sector is already well developed and returns are quick. Same with telecoms now unlike b4.

Power sector is starting from the scratch and needs time. It’s long term.

Re: Nigeria Will Remain In Darkness Except FG Pays Our N1.6trn – GENCOS by ufotunang: 5:54pm On Mar 16, 2022
The politicians and Buhari knows the solution to this electricity light problems ..it's to transfer electricity power from exclusive list to concurrent lists...let the state government generate, transmitt and distribute the electricity light to their respective states ...this is the solution

" However, the debt claim by the Gencos was immediately refuted by the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET). NBET disputed the figures quoted by the power generators, saying only companies with active gas supply and transportation contracts are paid for unutilised capacity"
The above is the bane of the electricity issue in Nigeria. A country ruled by people who don't have primary school certificate can't think out solution because it takes an thoroughly enlightened mind to creatively think and find solution.
You pay GENCOS generated electric power that DISCOS are not able to utilize- a simple term of saying that Federal Government pays for electricity generated that goes to waste because DISCO are not investing in power transformer and other distribution equipment to take this power to end users who are to pay for this electricity. Shame to Nigeria and Nigerians for allowing anything called government to exist. The system needs a thorough purge. Dismantle everything and start afresh m

Re: Nigeria Will Remain In Darkness Except FG Pays Our N1.6trn – GENCOS by stepaside2: 6:06pm On Mar 16, 2022
We can complain all we want. The issue is not as simple as many people see it. Bottom line is that the value chain is broken. There is massive transmission and distribution losses and payment for what is left that is consumed by customers is grossly inadequate to pay everyone involved.

2 things to do in my opinion is 1) reduce losses, most of which is due to illegal connections 2) customers to pay competitive market rates for electricity.

We are more like subsidising electricity consumption similar to fuel subsidy. It just can't work. Once we sort out these two issues, the other complaints by gencos and discos will naturally disappear.

No electricity in my area for the past three months because the transformer packed up and no replacement yet. Worrying about the state of electricity in Nigeria is another headache.
Buhari isn’t bothered because he’s in London and his wife is in Dubai.

Shameful

You are not missing much. The whole country now is like a "packed up transformer".

Only God knows the amount of institutions we have under power generation alone.? Too much dichotomy. We have TCN,gencos, discos, nerc and now bedt. Gosh.. No wonder d sector keeps going down d drain. The level of corruption is just too much.. Goshhh
