MadamExcellency:
Are foreigners voted for in Nigeria?

The freedom to vote and be voted for is a universal convention. However, the are varying conditions where a person is denied the right as defined by laws passed by the State.

In USA, felons don't vote in some States while in some others, the law permits them after certain conditions are met. There is no court that have imposed unconditional voting right except this inglorious court in Nigeria.

The law must stand. This law is not different from the law that stipulates, "no INEC Official shall be a card-carrying member of a political party"

If.you ask me...I think it's proper to keep that section.... reason being that it will demotivate those who scramble for political appointments.. simply in order to gain the access to gather money and leverage with which they can influence elections or run for office.... rather than facing their primary appointments...

Let the appointee stepdown if he/she thinks they have something else and better coming for them in the oaety..and leave space for those who really intend to work...not gather money to prosecute their own campaign

The constitution already states they can only resigned 30 days to election not that they can't participate in any form in convention. Convention election isn't actual elections to office.

The court now determines what law the national assembly should make?
The court can rule if an act is constitutional or not.

The Constitution of Nigeria is supreme. It can only take effect if the sections of the constitution that gives an individual powers to vote and be voted for is deleted.. Remember, this law is just an Electoral act.
