Former national chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Senator Victor Umeh on Saturday said former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano did wonderfully well with Anambra money.

Umeh said this while speaking on the arrest of Obiano by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), during the 80th birthday celebration of foremost Nigerian philosopher and president general of Alaigbo Development Foundation, Prof. Uzodimma Nwala in Enugu.

Umeh expressed confidence that Obiano would defend himself.

According to him, the former governor used Anambra money judiciously and committed same to verifiable projects.

He said: “It is not new in Nigeria. Most governors, when they leave office, EFCC will swarm on them. He must be given the right to be heard. We don’t know why they arrested him. But I’m sure when they listen to him, he will be able to defend himself.

“One thing I keep telling people is that former governor, Obiano did wonderfully well with Anambra money. He used our money well to the displeasure of those in the opposition. They don’t want to accept it.

“A governor who built an international airport, got it commissioned and working. Planes are coming in there and going and you are still looking for your money. He also built an international conference centre. All these projects he didn’t build them with sand. Apart from meeting the other obligations of running the government, meeting the needs of the people, paying workers salaries, he did so much for Anambra State. That is why we have to be calm to allow the EFCC to finish their job. But I’m confident that Obiano will defend himself”.

EFCC should be scraped. It has been hijacked by Malami to fight his political battles. We know how Gov Obiano thwarted Malami's plot to hijack Anambra state for APC in the last election.. This vendetta mission is dead on arrival, Obiano remains one of the best govs of his dispensation and will defend him self thoroughly. No one is afraid of the EFCC distraction.

Tribal sentiments and emotions outpouring will begin to flow, before you know,...looter will let go, ......but they forget that, the money is huge and it's for the benefits and betterments of their own tribe, they will refuse to imagine the positive impact it would have impacted in the life of their own people if used judiciously.

EFCC will soon extend hands of friendship to u too. I know both of u are brothers in crime. What do u expect from man that spent 12 hours out 24 drinking Hennessy like his wife said. Will that person be sane enough to manage a state resources. As well, why is he in haste to run away to USA just few hours after handling over. There is much to explain in this matter. The whole country is waiting. I just pray judgement is served in this case.

These are mere words, let the efcc do their job diligently,by gathering strong evidence.

2023 is close by
Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not qualified to lead Nigeria,we can not afford to install another old and sick man that urinates and suffers from parkinson disease for another 8yrs,we Nigerians can do better by electing a qualified candidate irrespective of his or her tribe....God bless Nigeria.

Fulanis only know how to bastardize anything they touch. Even a good institution set up to help the nation check corruption is bastardized by them for politics and vendetta.

Since the Anambra elections, Abubakar Malami claimed Obiano stole Paris club refund, then changed it to SureP, then changed it to stealing security votes, then changed it to withdrawing 37 billion naira in cash. All these months after these allegations, zero "evidence" has been produced to take Obiano to court and jail him if this wasn't a bad taste politics by Malami and Aso rock cabals! Instead, they humiliate him.

Meanwhile, we know of the real thieving governors even caught on camera pocketing dollars given as bribes in a sting operation! But the same EFCC and Malami said it was mere "angle of the camera" because he is their own.

EFCC is the next agency to be scrapped unless it is subject to transparent civil processes and the rule of law. The abuse of federal institutions by Fulanis for political vendetta is totally unacceptable.

Meanwhile, their online goons are already buying space in this thread to spam it and try to stifle the opinions of the people. They will try to make it look like they are Yoruba posters to divert attention. But nobody is fooled.

Again as so many have already noted, the overconfidence of the Fulanis in the abuse of powers of the federation is what will send Nigeria where Putin's overconfidence and abuse of power has sent Russia.

Well on alcoholism and clubs ...when our elites are the one desecrating the sanctity of our courts cos of personal interests or due to closeness to the accused, it is very bad but when someone like mr umeh ,who was elected to the level of senate tolling in this kind of useless behaviour is deplorable..why not allow the courts to take its cause, if he is innocent, he has to prove it and every one will accept it..
